BNSF 4226 Helped Ailing Amtrak CZ Train 5 8 Jan 2026

Amtrak's California Zephyr, train 5, had BNSF 4226, ES44C4, added to help Amtrak 164, Phase IV, and Amtrak on 2-hour 33-minute late train out of Denver, CO, in snowy Coal Creek Canyon west of Arvada, CO, Thursday, 8 January 2026.  Train was climbing the Colorado Rockies on UP's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision.

I'll be on this trainset on Sunday from DEN to CHI after it turns to #6 in EMY. Hopefully they'll have the engine issues figured out so we can make passenger speeds
