SEPTA has received sufficient quantities of the thermal wire product to perform the federally required safety upgrades to the cars. Eight cars are being returned to service every day. More detail in this Billy Penn article:

Date: 01/09/26 19:38 Re: SEPTA Silverliner IV & III news Author: GenePoon I was in the Main Line area west of Philadelphia from.mid-6December to earlier this week.
At no time did I see any Paoli/Thorndale off peak trains with more than two cars. On two trips into Center City with train-watching time at Jefferson and 30th St. Stations during off peak hours, I only saw two-car trains. Typical normal operation with full fleet availability is four cars: two married pairs. I did not want to stick around to see how short and how crowded the trains would be during peak hours. The leased MARC coaches are not in service. They are in shops undergoing retrofit for SEPTA use and crews are being trained. They are locomotive-hauled and thus not direct replacements for Silverliner EMUs. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 01/09/26 21:45 by GenePoon. |
