Passenger Trains > SEPTA restores morning expresses on MondayDate: 01/10/26 07:39 SEPTA restores morning expresses on Monday Author: GenePoon SEPTA is restoring morning express trains on Monday morning Jan. 12.
With the equipment shortage caused by mandatory withdrawal of more than half SEPTA Regional Rail capacity, express trains have been operating as all-stops locals. Many express trains also use locomotive-hauled equipment, which can have greater passenger capacity but slower acceleration than SEPTA EMUs. Some expresses even had names. The longest one serving the Thorndale-Center City Main Line was the "Great Valley Express." When SEPTA deleted the "R" route numbers from the public timetables, the train names were deleted, too. As more Silverliner IV cars are restored to service, evening express trains will be restored. No date has been announced. |
