Saturday January 10,2026  Amtrak train 839 out of Boston  had ACS 64  662  hauling  2006 - 6 -2037 westbound . This is the Acela that was on #2263 on Sunday November 30 , 2025 that had smoke under several cars at Providence RI where the train was terminated .

Thank you for the info on the Chrysler yard storage.  I wonder if that location will become the cut up point, or if the evaluations etc will be done there?  Keeps them out of Ivy City yard.

How is Amtrak doing on getting the next gen Acelas into service?  It seems to me that they have to do about two a month to get them all going by the end of this year.  I haven't heard of any new ones entering service for at least a month.  Just wondering.

So far, the OOS Acela Express train sets just sit there and get tagged up by the locals! I sure hope some of these "taggers" are graphic artists, as they produce some spectacular work!!!

So far, as a casual railfan, as of Jan 7th, I've got 9 different sets that I spotted. Could be more, I don't know.
