Floridian Lounge Car?
Author: wzd

Is there a lounge car or any "lounge car space" on the Floridian?

If traveling in a rooomette from Miami to Chicago, is one more or less confined to the roomette for the entire two-day trip, except for meals?

Thanks.

There's an Amcafe and the diner. I've found that at night, after services are done, you can hang out in the diner and no one will bother you. Otherwise there's the cafe. The last trip I took in December on 41, the cafe was quite popular. Had some long conversations with other passengers there.

Sure would be nice if they tacked on an order of domes after VIA places their new LD order soon.

I had no clue they were ordering new domes, or even had the panoramic domes!

Sigh.  Amtrak and VIA should work together on this order, saving money for both with a larger order.  There would also be a standardized design that is easier to maintain.

But as Kenny Nolan once sang, "I like dreaming."

I would also agree that it would be best if VIA and Amtrak went in on this order as it could also mean that the cars could be used in BOTH the United States and Canada - just in case and if needed........Panorama cars and domes would be fantastic!!! Leverage off of the same design with the same vendors but ensure the vendors CAN do the building and follow-through to ensure reliability - and there's a hook for accountability!!!!
