Here's what really happened: Law enforcement responds to possible death in area of West Ashley train tracks Charleston County deputies and other emergency crews responded to a scene off Bees Ferry Road Thursday morning. By Marissa Thompson Published: Feb. 26, 2026 at 5:05 AM CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston County deputies and other emergency crews responded to a scene off Bees Ferry Road Thursday morning. The law enforcement presence was reported near the Sanders Road train tracks early in the morning. An Amtrak train appeared to be stopped on those tracks. It has since moved, revealing the presence of what appeared to be crime scene tape at the scene. Dispatch information reported this as a crash with injuries. Charleston County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lexi Douglas said the train was stopped for a potential death investigation, but no death was officially confirmed. ---------------------- It seems that the train actually involved in the apparently fatal crash may be Train #53, the southbound Auto-Train, which is now running 3 hours and 25 minutes late (even though it departed from Lorton 28 minutes early).
