And it's one of what I call those useless alerts. It tells you what's already obvious, that the train is late by a certain amount, with no further explanation.

It can't be AI.

Perhaps it's because the AI is programmed, or whatever the correct term is, to reflect that the average person, passenger or other, only needs/wants to know the delay.  Most people could not care less why there is a delay.

Doesn't Amtrak status update every five minutes on their public system? Probably worth a line of code to update every 20 minutes or when a new reason is entered

A passenger who was on that train, detraining in Alexandria, was receiving all those delay notifications:

" After I got off I received 25 delay notifications over several hours--all central time, not eastern."

Thanks for the post (no sarcasm).

Good possibility this might be a result of AI overlearning. Trigger could be overwhelming complaints that Amtrak is inadequate in updating customers of delays.

But dismiss my anti-AI bias - there's a possiblity that AI is smarter than I realized, and learned how to troll.
