1. Amtrak S/B train 89, the Palmetto (New York, NY to Savannah, GA), is on track three of CSX's RF&P Sub. A couple on the right take it all in as I get a friendly wave from the Engineer in ALC42-312. 1:49PM on 3-6-26 in Ashland, VA.

2. Amtrak ALC42-335 is on the point of S/B train 79, the Carolinian (New York, NY to Charlotte, NC) on track three of CSX's RF&P Sub. Here, it's passing the statue of Triple Crown winner Secretariat (on the right). 2:12PM on 3-6-26 in Ashland, VA.

3. Just a couple of miles south of center, Amtrak ALC42-333 is leading S/B Northeast Regional train NR-155. Here, on track two of CSX's RF&P Sub, passing the Gwathmey Baptist Church. 4:23PM on 3-6-26 in South Ashland, VA.

4. An Amtrak P42DC duo, 140 & 167, are leading S/B train 1041, the Floridian (Chicago, IL to Miami, FL). It's on track two of CSX's RF&P Sub, passing the Gwathmey Baptist Church. On this stretch of the RF&P, the train number is 1041 instead of 41. At least, that's what was showing on the 48 tracker app. 4:37PM on 3-6-26 in South Ashland, VA.

These are great! In just under two months, I am going to be spending a week and a half in the DC area and have plans to do serious railfanning along the RF&P between DC and the Fredericksburg area. I don't think I'll have the time to get to Ashland-I went there a long time ago and loved it. That will be for another trip. 

1041 is 41 on a temporarily altered schedule. Amtrak LDs use this numbering convention often.
