Passenger Trains > Lake Shore Limited 49-06 with 4 inspection cars

Lake Shore Limited #49-06 departed New York Penn bound for Chicago with 4 inspection cars bringing up the rear: Beech Grove 10001, Pacific Bend 10020, Catenary Measurement car #10005 and Corridor View 10006. The train is seen at Milepost 1.28 on the Empire Connection in midtown Manhattan.

I thought 10002 was the catenary inspection car. Did Amtrak add another one or did they retire 10002?

Great shots !  Four types of equipment represented : Amfleet I, Heritage , 10005 - a real Metroliner car , and one of the Viewliner Prototype cars .  10002 is still in service  ,10005 does the OCS inspections now .

Which of cars provides meal service? Or perhaps the assembled grandees will simple feast on flex dining.

The first executive business car - Beech Grove - did have a kitchen in it. Gunn used to cook for fellow business riders and himself. It underwent work though around 2017 or so, so not sure what the outcome of the interior was. I am sure they are back to an executive chef of some sort now, or have the flex meals - possibly - shipped back to them. I believe there may be a simplified galley of some sort in the Heritage sleeper, but can't say for sure. In an odd way, I can NOT for the life of me remember how that interior was laid out after it was re-manufactured to the Amtrak business fleet. 

Thanks for the insight on the meals.  I'd wager the business folks would not eat flex meals!
