Passenger Trains > A few PCCs on the F Market...Date: 04/08/26 11:00 A few PCCs on the F Market... Author: atx_railfan I'm in San Francisco at the moment visiting family and I always try to get out and ride+photograph some of the historic PCCs on the F Market line.
After walking around and catching up with a friend in the Tenderloin yesterday, I took the F Market down to Church Street and walked the rest of the way to the Castro, photographing streetcars on my way down. 1) MUNI 1076 (DC Transit) approaches the diamond with the J Church line. This car was originally built in 1946 for the Twin Cities Rapid Transit Company in Minnesota. 2-3) MUNI 1056 (Kansas City) races a driverless Waymo car down Market Street. Only in San Francisco can you find such a strong juxtaposition between the cutting edge of transportation tech in the 1940s vs the 2020s! This car was originally built in 1948 for the Philadelphia Transportation Company. Date: 04/08/26 11:03 Re: A few PCCs on the F Market... 5-6) MUNI 1056 rests at the end of the line in the Castro. Date: 04/08/26 11:08 Re: A few PCCs on the F Market... Author: atx_railfan 7) After the 1056 departed for Fisherman's Wharf, MUNI 1073 (El Paso/Juarez) pulled up just shy of the platform for the operator's break. This car was originally built in 1947 for the Twin Cities Rapid Transit Company in Minnesota. While this may not be an original El Paso/Juarez car, El Paso has its own fleet of PCCs that have been on my bucket list of cool things to photograph since their small system reopened in 2018. The El Paso system's PCCs have been outfitted with large rooftop AC units, increasing passenger comfort in the desert heat. MUNI 1073 lives on as a gorgeous tribute to how the El Paso/Juarez cars looked "back in the day."
Thanks for viewing! Date: 04/08/26 13:12 Re: A few PCCs on the F Market... Author: ClubCar Great photos, I still love seeing and riding streetcars whenever I can. Thanks for sharing your photos.
