West metro Denver new station site study
Author: dan

This is for the daily train - ex ski train - that will run everyday starting in November, perhaps the CZ should use it as well.   My favorite contender is the old stop where the ski train stopped till 1978, Rocky was its name.   next to hwy 93  it was very popular but the old interchange with the highway is risky, state would have to put in a stoplight, be popular with the boulder , west suburbs, and golden folks..   the road on a grade , when icy still risky.  2nd choice in my eyes, near Indiana st also hwy 72 be closer to current services, and a planned new modern road that may never be built.   Leyden siding would have to be extended and new bridges over Indiana need to be installed.  Other areas also being looked at, it will be a couple years for this to happen regardless you figure.   Will edit this later

So the California Zephyr and the Ski Train would stop at Denver Union Station and this new one as well?  Am I understanding correctly that this station would be in suburban Denver?

Geez, my old apartment on Oberon Road would be really convenient to a new station, even better as a railfan hangout than before.

Alas, I moved out in 1982.

Correct. Right now, if you live where this stop might be, you have to go east to downtown Denver to take a train going west. That makes the train impractal for lots of folks.
