2 Horizons cars in the new livery are being deadheaded east on #280 from Niagara Falls to Rensselaer this morning, so presumably repaired for returning to service.

The Downeaster has three trainsets, I believe, so need one more.  Unless there is an extra Amfleet around Maine.

Coaches 54 500 and 565.
A different 5 went to Kanona a few days ago.

We need these badly on the Amtrak Cascades. Many of our schedules are sold out now even during the quietest times of the week, and who knows how many people we're having to turn away on weekends with mere three-car trainsets. I don't think any other corridor endures that, at least not on weekends. Alternatively, it would also be good to convert the Borealis back to Horizon to free up Superliners for long-distance trains. It's just good that repaired Horizons are finally coming out.

Agreed...... Let's hope for the best and hope for more restored Horizon passenger cars! Looking forward to seeing the new livery too! 

These two are going to the Downeaster. 6 more cars are planned to return to service in late 2026/early 2027.

Good news. I wonder how extensive the restoration was?

Progress. Glad  to  have  them on the  CARDINAL!!

You won't see them on the Cardinal...Maine and the PNW...

8 coaches should go to Borealis to free up the 6 Superliner coaches. Those would be great as 3rd coaches on CZ

It's quite confounding that they are using Superliners on the Borealis. What a terrible example of equipment utilization

In he dark ccrners of my mind I suspect that Philladelphia Amtrak is embarrased at how successful the far away corridors like Surfliner, Downeastener, Cascade, etc. are at attracting ridership.  The big show is supposed to be the NEC, the rest is just data noise from far away lands.

Seems like each Horizon is wanted on about a half dozen different services.  A lot has not gone as planned over the past five or so years to create such a situation.

You use what you have available.  But something like some reconfigured commuter cars with "good" seats and some kind of food service would work too.

448 into Boston had the two Horizon coaches behind the road power and the sleeper . The units were 113 and 48 , they brought the cars to NFL where the two engines and two coaches were added to the rear of Sunday's  #280.   113 is phase VII and 46 features the  "50 th" logo .  46 was released from Beech Grove in January 2021 to be used for a POTUS   PX  that was cancelled due to safety concerns .

The long distance network that is supposed to serve a large portion of the country is being constrained because long distance equipment is being used for short haul state routes. It's that simple.
I didn't say that there is a simple solution that could be implemented today, but this situation does show poor planning/management that has resulted in situations like this
