Passenger Trains > Project 432: A Sitting Duck In The Morning Glint

The realities of railroading caught up with number 27 yesterday, when a red signal halted the venerable Empire Builder to Portland as it was coming into Ritzville.

At 5:33 a.m. I captured Amtrak waiting at West Tokio, cooling its jets until an eastbound grain train cleared. 

Amtrak was like a sitting duck in the morning glint, posing for an unexpected portrait.

The train was running about 38 minutes late by the time it rolled through downtown Ritzville.
