Passenger Trains > Operation Lifesaver Amtrak 231 on IRM trainDate: 07/07/26 13:46 Operation Lifesaver Amtrak 231 on IRM train Author: F40PHR231 I couldn't help but mirror this after cozephyr's title on 203 ;-p
Amtrak 231 pulled passengers for the first time on its own last weekend since it was retired 25 years ago; The good folks at Illinois Railway Museum repaired the traction motor cables, tweaked a few details, and it ran nicely. Pics of it moving on Track 2 at East Union Depot... and running down the museum's main demonstration track at speed, which I captured with my phone's long-exposure feature. It was a great weekend! I’m glad to see it’s now in good hands! Hmmm… maybe I should dig into my master file and see if I can scare up another shot… 😎 Posted from iPhone Date: 07/07/26 16:58 Re: Operation Lifesaver Amtrak 231 on IRM train Author: stevelv Chris, I'm so glad your engines found a good home at the IRM all though we do miss them out here in Boulder City.
