Passenger Trains > Engine Change HarrisburgDate: 08/03/26 19:00 Engine Change Harrisburg Author: Tominde One can dream. 4859 was the first GG1 to pull a passenger train into Harrisburg Jan 15, 1938. back then GG1S brought the limiteds from NY and engines got swapped to steam/diesel for the westbound run. Harrjsburg was an extremely busy place back in the day. No engines are swapped in Harrisburg now. The only train west of Harrisburg now is Pennsylvanian, Amtrak 42.43. That engine swap occurs in Philly.
4859 is in great shape having been under cover for all of it's preserved life. It could use a bath with lots of construction dust on it. Wouldn't that make a great looking cab car?
