LIRR Montauk Line Future Improvements

Some track and station improvements are coming to the East End of LIRR's Montauk Line-extension of a siding in Amagansett as well as a permanent opposite side platform at Hampton Bays Station.

Great news!! However I wouldn’t count on any significant service increase to Montauk right now. There isn’t enough equipment for any substantial increase in frequencies to the South Fork resort towns. It seems that many of the residents who live east of where the forks split year round are taking the Hampton Jitney when heading into Manhattan.
