#41 Floridian (25) hits car today Jacksonville FL

Woman, hit, killed by Amtrak train after driving around crossing arm (First Coast News)
around 6:40 am this morning. It is still being held with #97 (26) behind it. The Auto Train
was 10 minutes behind #41 this morning at Jesup. Some official had a brain storm and
rerouted #53 onto the CSX Duval yard connection, it worked though it was a crawl through
the yard. It is a little over 3 hours late, I'm sure most of that delay was north of Georgia.

There is a stretch of track in south Jax that seems to be a magnet for bad driving.

Slow maybe, but it was a straight-through move that avoided the accident site.  It also misses the Amtrak station, but with AutoTrain it didn't matter.

In a recent thread, somebody suggested naming and shaming (?) the Amtrak official who sent a train out with bad ordered and soon removed cars.   In this case,  some Amtrak official made a decision and CSX agreed to allow Amtrak to use a bypass which avoided the accident site.  That's a commendable decision
