Passenger Trains > Amtrak/VIA N.A. Rail Pass questionDate: 02/09/04 03:16 Amtrak/VIA N.A. Rail Pass question Author: chessie Has anyone ever tried booking a North American Rail Pass with a gap in their travel route? For example, get off at a station and reboard at a different station? The reason I ask is I am contemplating a trip this spring; my third using the Rail Pass. What I would like to do is get off #7 at Grand Forks, ND, travel by other means to Winnipeg, MB, and board VIA #1 there to head towards Kamloops, BC. Grand Forks and Winnipeg are less than 3 hours apart by highway and it would same me some time if it is doable. Any advice is appreciated.

It's a 2 day wait for the next train, so I'm probably best to eat the one-way penalty for a rental car from Grand Forks to Winnipeg.
