Passenger Trains > Home after 10 days CHI 3 LAX 14 PDX 500 SEA 8 CHIDate: 02/05/05 15:36 Home after 10 days CHI 3 LAX 14 PDX 500 SEA 8 CHI Author: CountryBoy All in all, the entire trip went well
OBS personal were for the most part professional; there were a couple that were a bit on the sour grapes side of things but not enough to complain about. To me the surprising thing about the trip was that most everything was on time, EARLY or reasonably close, until St Cloud MN where we were delayed by the BNSF coal train derailment. This included, a delay because the sleepers were not ready leaving Chicago (10 min), waiting for a crew to finish its rest on 3 (SW Chief)(30 min), a medical emergency on 8 (15-30 min)(heart attack supposedly fatal) Disappointments: None were Amtraks fault Very little snow in the Cascades and on 8 across Washington state, Montana and North Dakota Service disruption on the Coast Starlight resulting in bustitution from LA to Bakersfield San Joaquin service to Fresno and bustitution from Fresno to Sacramento BUSSES: All not enough room, the first bus (LAX to BFD) must have been designed by the Marquis Desade cause it felt like a torture rack, Seats size designed for Billy Barty, with a definite forward list so that it seemed like you were going to slide out of it onto the floor. And a 12 hour bus ride from St Cloud MN to Chicago Date: 02/05/05 15:45 Re: Home after 10 days CHI 3 LAX 14 PDX 500 SEA 8 CHI Author: maintainerdeluxe CountryBoy Wrote:
