International Railroad Discussion > Patna-Indore (India) Express AccidentDate: 11/19/16 19:24 Patna-Indore (India) Express Accident Author: Geodyssey At least (63) passengers were killed and 150 severely injured on Sunday when 14 coaches of the ill-fated Indore-Patna express train derailed near Pukhrayan area in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district.
The accident took place at around 3 am near Pukhrayan, about 100 kms from Kanpur but the Cause of the tragedy is still unknown. Government roped in Army and NDRF teams for rescue operations while local MPs and MLAs reached the accident spot to help victims. Keeping in view the situation, Indian Railways on Sunday cancelled some trains and diverted some others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed his condolences on the death of the people who were killed in the mishap. This is front page news every day. From the looks of the trains here there are bars on the windows. So no clue how passengers are suppose to get out in an accident even if not killed.
