New life to former EFCB 370 Pacific 4-6-2 (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, former EFCB railroad 370 Pacific 4-6-2 is now next to the Santos Dumont (MG) station with two budd restaurant cars as a atraction to the railroad museum and cutural center.  I visited it two days ago while on a trip from Rio de Janeiro to Belo Hozrionte. The engine is static and the two cars are real restauirantes where people can have meal or drinks. If you are nearby, do not forget to visit them.

#370 is 63-inch gauge, built by Alco in 1922.

Curious as to why 370 is static now.  Wasn't she restored to steam in 2008?   Still looks to be in great shape.

Hmm, whatever happened to the good old days of Presto Logs for cooking, Hahaha!
Meanwhile it all looks great. Congrats to them.

Hi,
There isn´t abandoned broad gauge tracks nearby where they could start a steam train site. So, they tryed to get a window on MRS Centro line tracks during weekends, but they couldn´t get ana agreement with MRS. So, they found a way to put the engine near the station. I by myself think that they chose the wrong idea, because soon the vandals with destroy and stole parts from the engine.

Very little left of the original interiors on those Budd cars, though it's good to see them preserved.  It would be really interesting to see some interior photos of those cars as-built.

Yes, those cars were totally modified inside during the time they run in the old Trem de Prata from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo from 1995 to 1998.

No, all the Budd cars in Brazil were bought new to former EFCB and EFS railroads
