Japan--Choshi Electric Railway
Author: glibby

Three shots of Choshi Electric Railway, from 1972-73.  I walked the entire line from Choshi to Togawa, approx. three miles.

Nice collection of shots to showcase the rustic nature of Choshi Electric Railway. Unlike you, I only walked about two stations' worth in October 2015, because my plan to ride the line got foiled by a car vs. Choshi Railway EMU accident at a grade crossing. I cut my losses and headed back to Tokyo soon after the walk.

Deha 200 (#201, shot #1) was known for numerous breakdowns and unreliability. Scrapped (unknown when), according to Choshi Railway's official web site.

Deha 300 (#301, shots #2 and #3) migrated from Tsurumi Seaside Railway, which later became part of JNR as the Tsurumi Line near Kawasaki. No known reliability problems for this EMU, but unfortunately, it was scrapped recently in 2009.
