MRS at Barbacena, MG (Brazil)

Hi, Yesterday Aril 12th, 2017  I went to Barbacena, MG and got some pictures of MRS switching in the yard and also at mainline.

1) Locomotive C44EMi 3414 going backwards on the old stone bridge of former Pedro II railway to get some cement cars at Holcim Cement Co. The viaduct belonged to the old mainline and nowadays is part of the branch to access Holcim. Pedro II was the third railroad built in Brazil and later became Central of Brazil (EFCB);

2) A view of the two parts of the yard. At left, the main yard where we can see C36-7 3828 (an ex-NS unit) and C44EMI 3914 been uncoupled from a freight to move to Holcim Cement Co to get some cement cars. At right, the part the yard in front of the station used by the MoW crew to park locomotives, cars and equipments used by the track team. The locomotive in the background is U23C 3309;

3) U23C 3309 parked witha MoW train in the small yard in front of the station.

I guess we in the states do not have the only really long trains.

Hi, in fact, Vale have daily 330 ore cars on narrow gauge and 440 on broad gauge. They are huge trains.
