Hiroshi-san, thank you for the annual report. Nice line up indeed. I wonder if Kumoha 12 (#12052) will ever participate in a special run, since last I heard, it's stored serviceable?

It was a quite surprise to see JR's announcement of bringing Kumoha 12 to the open house since we have not seen it for a while.

Here is a bit of history behind:

Built in 1929 as Class 31 number 018 which was a single cab car
In 1953 re-classified as Class 11 200's number 10. (Still a single cab car)
In 1955 Modification was made to add a new cab to the B-end so it became a double cab car.
In 1959 re-classification was made to become Class Kumoha 12 50s number 2

It was retired in 1996. Since then, it's been preserved at Ohi Facility.

Another surprise guest was EF 81 number 81. In 2014, all the sudden it had painted back to Red #13 color (“Rose pink”) from “Hokutosei” scheme. And it was also fully dressed up for the royal train service scheme. And It still wears it. Back in 2008, at the same facility EF 58 number 61 was displayed along with Kumoha 12. Now this year again, Kumoha 12 was so honored to set aside with the Royal engine.
