Aizu Railway (Japan)-- the hot spa line
Author: Railpax71

Yunokami station on the non-electrified portion of the Aizu Railway is famous for its thatched roof in the traditional style. The train I photographed was a billboard for Fukushima products.

1. Station sign on the street side
2. Departing train northbound toward Aizukōgen-Ozeguchi
3. Street side looking at the mountains with a fresh dusting of snow

#4 Platform sign
#5 Inside the waiting area. Open charcoal fire, and kerosene heater going full blast. It was so smoky that even cold outside I thought it better to wait outside. Ample supply of Manga!
#6 Southbound train

#8 Station has its own public footbath
#9 Details of the roof and station clock

We'll be back either when there is snow on the ground or Sakura time snow

Thanks for the report!

I haven't posted the video yet, but I ran into Aizu Railway DMUs (AT-350 open air car, AT-400 observation car, and AT-100 DMU running as "Aizu Roman") at Aizu-Wakamatsu few years ago while waiting for the C57-180 steam locomotive.
