International Railroad Discussion > Rebuilding of Cambodian Railroad and Thai connection moves aheadDate: 02/15/18 19:02 Rebuilding of Cambodian Railroad and Thai connection moves ahead Author: Soo715 After many political, financial and logistical delays, the restoration of rail service between Bangkok, Thailand and Phnom Penh, Cambodia (suspended since I think the early 1960s) is now rapidly moving forward. The rails are connected and being tested and through service should resume later this year.
The Cambodian rail line between Phnom Penh and the coast at Sihanoukville is already back in operation with a passenger train and some freight service. http://www.khmertimeskh.com/50108708/northern-section-of-cambodian-western-rail-line-ready-for-test/?utm_source=Mekong+Eye&utm_campaign=147f4b4a62-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_01_10&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_5d4083d243-147f4b4a62-380867501 Date: 02/17/18 12:37 Re: Rebuilding of Cambodian Railroad and Thai connection moves ah Author: ATsf2921-4-8-4 Guess I'll add my small photographic collection.

Inside were two 2-6-0s (or maybe 4-6-0s been forgetting). They were wood burners and had a Belgium builder's plate on each. It was too dark to photograph them. An elderly man was looking after them but I did not speak Khmer so I did not get their history. :-( Luckily the Khmer Rouge had not harmed them, unlike the rusted and stripped 2-8-2 MacArthur engines depicted in the other photograph. So say I. |
