International Railroad Discussion > Grain J340 at Km 625 (Brazil)Date: 06/20/18 16:51 Grain J340 at Km 625 (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, today morning I found grain train J340 at Km 625 waiting licence to go ahead. A friend of mine was the engineer and he invited me to the cab while he was waiting the licence to come to the computer on board. Locomotive 1270 is special to me since it was my number in the Air Force academy when I started my military career.

Image 1, what is that hose hanging down from the top of the nose, and is the white dome a GPS antenna. Image 5, I know what the two screens are on the left, what is the other box in front with switches and knobs ?? Are these locos DPU equipped ?? thanks.

The box you mention is the ATC - Automatic Train Control pannel, used by Vale only. VLI do not use atc; it uses OBC - On Board Computer. hoggerdoug Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nice images. Couple of questions. The computer screen seen partially is the OBC system. I will try to get better photos soon. hoggerdoug Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ah, 2 more questions, image 5, what are the boxes > above the two screens.
