International Railroad Discussion > ABPF steam site in São Lourenço, MG (Brazil)Date: 07/02/18 16:36 ABPF steam site in São Lourenço, MG (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, last weekend I did a trit to São Paulo state and passed through São Lourenço, MG a beautifull balneary where the ABPF ( Brazilian Association of Railway Preservation) has a steam site. I had no time to run the train, but I took some pics of the site. Here they are.
1) Steel cars waiting restoration; 2) A German made 0-4-0 in display at the station. It will be changed by another one soon, since 1424 will be sent to Cruzeiro shops for heavy maintenance.

Thanks for the postings on Brazilian Railroads. On my tour in 2002 we visited Sao Lourenco and rode the train. I remember we crossed a mountain range with a out of service meter gauge line, was this connected to this line? ABPF also run a steam train in Passa Quatro, in the border of the two states. It is restoring a diesel engine to start a plan to link Cruzeiro, SP to Passa Quatro, MG through the 1km long tunnel in the Mantiqueira range.
