FCAB to get GE C23EMP locomotives & Receive GT42AC’s as well

I’m surprised GE got this - I would’ve totally expected them to go for the new EMD GT38AC

GE of Brazil is producing three C21MP to Bolivia. It also producing AC44i to Rumo and ES43BBi to VLI. It is said that it will produce some ES58ACi to Vale too.
EMD of Brazil is producing more SD70ACeBB to VLI.

Oh wow - so ES43BBi to VLI? I though they were good with the GT46ACe’s. Do you know when Vale will get their SD70ACe-bb’s?

VLI ordered 16 ES43BBi. It is said that is it a great locomotive and cheaper than the SD70ACeBB.
Vale didn't put an order to the SD70ACeBB for a while. It will wait the end of the tests with the two Demonstrators that it bought from EMD.

FCAB due to take delivery of 2 additional GT42AC in 2019

The main line up to Bolivia has been upgraded to 20 TAL from yhe coast as far east as San Salvador (Chuquicamata), so this will be GT42AC territory

The line to Argentina (Socompa) is owned by Ferronor east of Augusta Victoria, and this sector is still 16TAL, hence the C23-EMP
