The BBC reported on December 17 that Mexico has started construction on a new 950-mile, 7 billion dollar railroad network in the Yucatan penninsula that will include heavy rebuilding of the Palenque - Merida section of the line that connects the Yucatan penninsula with the rest of Mexico, in addition to much new construction.  Passenger service to connect coastal tourist areas wth famous  Mayan ruins is included.  Put "Tren Maya Mapa" in Google's search engine to get a good map.

Will any of the old narrow gauge ROW be used on the Maya project. Or are NG ROW's in this area.
