International Railroad Discussion > Early Spring Time in YokohamaDate: 03/10/19 00:46 Early Spring Time in Yokohama Author: Hiroshi Visited Kikuna area to shoot a few round of photos this afternoon.
And, here are some of them. Hiroshi Date: 03/10/19 01:19 Re: Early Spring Time in Yokohama Author: railscenes Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos from Japan, a country that appreciates rail transportation and the RR industry does not kill the flowers with a weed sprayer. Or did you "plant" the flowering plant? Either way I like the photos.
I had the honor to tour, by rail, your country in 1968 for a week of R&R from Vietnam. Everyone was real friendly and liked seeing a young GI interested in their railway system. Got some good shots of steam, diesel and electric power too. Steve Rippeteau Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/10/19 01:26 by railscenes. Yes, Sir, the year 1968 was the end of the Golden era of railroading in Japan. You were here to witness the changes almost taken place. These plans were well maintained sometimes by railroad, but most cases by the city governments. railscenes Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos from > Japan, a country that appreciates rail > transportation and the RR industry does not kill > the flowers with a weed sprayer. There is a logo or emblem on 5822, with a "90th" on it. Perhaps it is celebrating the 90th car of that series built? (Also a "90" sign above that one). Thanks, Norm Date: 03/11/19 04:07 Re: Early Spring Time in Yokohama Author: Hiroshi norm1153-san:
Yes, it was the 90th anniversary of the Toyoko (Tokyo-Yokohama) line operation. Tokyu decided to go Heritage by putting a coat of green file over the stainless steel body. Tokyu selected the 8-car consist of the class 5000 to celebrate this occasion. It so happened to be the 22th consist of the class in service. After more than a year of the operation, Tokyu decided to retain the green scheme for a while. Hope this helps. norm1153 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thank you for posting these! > There is a logo or emblem on 5822, with a "90th" > on it. I'm guessing it's a bit early for cherry blossoms, so these are plum blossoms? Date: 03/14/19 02:03 Re: Early Spring Time in Yokohama Author: Hiroshi Maybe in two weeks, I will be able to shoot "Sakura" blossoms once again from Tokyo area.
Flowers from Kikuna area are a sort of early "bird" ones. Here is the Picture. You are right that peaches and plumes are among the early ones. cchan006 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hiroshi Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Visited Kikuna area to shoot a few round of > photos > > this afternoon. > > And, here are some of them. > > > > Hiroshi > > Thanks for the annual flower blossom shots from > Yokohama and Tokyo. > > I'm guessing it's a bit early for cherry blossoms, > so these are plum blossoms?
