NRE Croatian builds on the TAZARA
Author: jmt

Photos are appearing on Facebook of a pair of Croatian assembled GT26C-3 clones on the TAZARA

Used new frames, with Bradken (China) 5650 bogies. Cape gauge, numbered 4007/4008
Croatian source saying that the frames were originally fabricated against Israeli options, but not used
NRE supplied 13 TZV Gredelj GT26CW-3 clones to Iseael 2015/16

With open access operator Calabash Freight operating between Zambia and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania

Interesting... as clones, did they have to license aspects of it from EMD/Progress Rail?

I doubt it

They have done around 50 new builds GT26C at TZV Gredelj in Croatia (one block of 20 for Morocco in 2012/13, 13 for Mozambique coal miners)

Over 90 GT26C in South Africa

20 SDL38 and 20 SDL50 for SRO in Saudi Arabia

GT26C for Australia, Bollore Group in West Africa, at least 12

At least 13 E types with the cab forward configuration

GT22C for Bollore Group and Watco Australia (8 currently in build), at least 18

I have possibly missed a few, in the 230+ range, all utilising new frames

That is quite an output, I never realized they were producing in those numbers. I rarely hear about it except for a post like this.
