Kyoto Station Action in the Late '90s

A platform ticket was all it took to see a lot of JR West trains!

I don't remember many train name or class details but I know I did like the DMU cars in picture number three.

Korigaoka1811-san:

1st photo:  Class 481 EMU Ltd Express Raisho (I might be wrong on this one) and EF65 1000s Electric Locomotive;
2nd photo: Class 481 EMU Ltd Express service car;
3rd photo: Class 28 DMU (right the leader) and class 58 DMU the 2nd car. These cars were assinged for Express service.
This particular Class 28 was called AC ready car.  It had mounts installed on the roof but not air conditioners themselves yet.
The 2nd car has a water tank at the end of the roof.  Since this is a twin engined DMU, which left no space for the tank under the floor.
That is why the tank was mounted on the roof.

Hope this helps,
