Out of the 83 DDM45 originally produced how many remain today? Are there any others preserved? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/31/19 16:26 by ble692. Date: 03/31/19 16:32 Re: A DDM45 to be preserved (Brazil) Author: pedrop Vale mining has 25 units, most of them stored. Their future is uncertain. All other were torched by EMD of Brazil as a core for new SD70BB to VLI.

Regards,DK Date: 04/01/19 15:42 Re: A DDM45 to be preserved (Brazil) Author: jmt 855 and 883 went to Mozambique from Q4 2010 until around the beginning of 2013 for a holiday, were little used, as confined to south of the Dona Ana. Imported by Vale to shake the then Indian system managers out of their lethargy, and introduce the concept that the customer is always right, a fact of life sadly missing from the Indian Civil Service practice manual.
At the time the Beira system was managed by RITES, who with typical bureaucratic risk averse woolly headiness, and expediency, had plans for the wholesale importation of rebuilt YDM-4 (DL535A/RSD-30) to operate the system. The DDM45 confronted the Indians. The Moz government intervened in 2011, sacked RITES and their construction partner, the quango IRCON, and allowed Vale to run their own GT26CU-2 under an open access agreement. Rio Tinto imported NRE GT26CU-3 clones assembled in Croatia for open access. https://www.livemint.com/Industry/thQlHtUC96XYYXwEMezfzJ/Indian-firms-to-take-legal-route-against-Mozambique-govt.html Date: 04/02/19 13:53 Re: A DDM45 to be preserved (Brazil) Author: tomstp Pedro: question: The Standard gauge bodies of these engines overhangs the narrow gauge track quite a bit. Is there a lower speed limit for these kinds of large engines vs smaller engines?
Date: 04/02/19 14:35 Re: A DDM45 to be preserved (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, no they run the same speed f the tracks allow. At mainline the standard gauge locos on narrow gauge trucks run pretty well.
