Hi, finally the SD80ACe Demobstrator 8080 started the test with the ore trains on MRS mainline. I received this pic from Fernando José  taken at P2-06 yard at Bom Jardim, MG.

Possibly a shield to keep the ore pellets out of the radiator when pulling through the loader.

No,it is a device to improve the performance of the unit through big tunnels where the SD70ACe's failed in the tests two years ago. EMD couldn't sell any SD70 to MRS due the problems they had while running through big and tight tunnels.

Sounds like they need a SD80AceT.

This demonstrator is a modern version of a T motor.
