São Paulo freight trains
Author: ShortlinesUSA

Good evening.

Work will take me to São Paulo, Brazil a few times in May.  I am likely to not be able to get out for railfanning, but am curious about the lines around the city.  It looks like mostly (if not all) passenger operations from what I can see close to our hotel.  Does any freight run through the city center?  If so, during daylight hours?  We are in the Bela Vista section of the city.

Thank you for any information provided.

I live far from São Paulo but I asked a friend that lives nearby:

Manoel Feio yard could be an ideal yard to visit.

Rio Grande da Serra (final line turquoise cptm) takes the trains that come from Santos, Paranapiacaba and direction of São Paulo, because there is a corridor that comes from Manoel Feio.
Other places, only going by car.

In São Paulo visit Luz station that is beautiful and there are always some freighters passing by.

Thank you very much for the information, Pedro. I enjoy your photos and posts here.

I will look into Luz to see if a visit is possible.

I hope you have fun railfaning in SP. My area here in MG is better because the freights run side by side to the metropolitan trains in downtown corridor.
