International Railroad Discussion > Panama Canal Mule Locomotives at Miraflores Locks

Seeing Miraflores Locks was high on my list of priorities in the few hours I had in Panama. I've long wanted to see the "mules" that guide the ships through the locks there. Of course, these Mitsubishi versions are the third generation (I believe), but still they are running a stell fixed guideway and are thus railroad in my mind.

Images one and two are sort of rosters of the Mitusbishi mules.

Image three is of a mule climbing from the lower lock to the higher lock.

Image five is an overview of the mules working on the higher lock.

Image six is a mule with a fire engine.

Image seven is of Orient Target and MS Regatta working through the locks.

Ship would have to be docked. This one is a sail.

Based on Google maps, looks like the photographs were taken from the deck of the Atlantic & Pacific Co. restaurant.
