International Railroad Discussion > Another Vale mining dam in the iminence of collapseDate: 05/21/19 09:26 Another Vale mining dam in the iminence of collapse Author: pedrop Hi, since Sunday night, all trains of Vale mining and VLI that run in the tracks that connects Vale system to Belo Horizonte city were ceased due to the iminence of Gongo Soco mine collapse and destroy a viaduct over the pit and also the mud dam nearby. Almost all trains ceased in my area due to this problem. No solution for now. Maybe they will be routed to São Paulo corridor to use Santos port. It will be a big trouble for Vale and VLI.
If the dam collapses, Barão de Cocais town can be destroyed. Vale is moving 500 thousand tons of granite blocks to build a containment to the mud in of case the dam collapses. The enviroment will suffer anothe big damage in Minas Gerais state. It is a tragedy annouced since a long time now becoming a sad reallity. Thanks, Norm Date: 05/23/19 14:15 Re: Another Vale mining dam in the iminence of collapse Author: pedrop Hi, the news say the crack in mine wall is opening 10 cm a day. So, they imagine that it will fall soon.
