Alco S-1 trucks (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

These great Alco S-1 trucks have a uncertain future. They were separated for preservation, but due to the economic crisis and bureaucracy, they were left in a place that now is been cleaned for another purpose. Sad to see them and other old locomotives going to scrapping.

Not the type of truck used in the USA on a Baldwin AS616.  Look more like Blunt trucks used on Alco S type switchers.

You´re right. It is from old S1 of Central of Brazil. Sorry for the mistake, but I received as Baldwin AS616. Now I see my mistake.

Bearings in the flat car trucks are unusual as well. Are they friction / pain bearing or roller bearing ??

Can someone read the builders plate on the side sill on the flatcar, US Builder?  Like the stakes in the sill pockets made of light weight rail!

The builder is "Mafersa", and old builder in Brazil. Now it belongs to Greenbrier / Maxion group.
