The first freight train without crew in Brazil
Author: pedrop

Hi, yesterday Vale mining run the first freight train without crew in Brazil. It was an empty grain that was leaded by two dash 9 and received other six special adapted dash 9 with a sistem able to be controled by 4G cell phone system. This special train was used to test the viaduct over Gongo Soco mine that is in danger since is too close to a dam that can break up any moment. It was necessary to test the tracks because there are many trains waiting to pass there and many customers waiting the cargos.
The video was taken by Vale security cameras

I always enjoy your photos and information.
I belong to a model club in Orlando,Fl.I have
been unable to go there until yesterday because
I have been sick. While I was gone on 18 May
two guys from Brazil came to visit.I wish I could
have met them.I thought about you.

Hi Pedro,

I am just curious about if anything is being done to repair/upgrade the dam or remove it?

edi: I just noticed your previous post with the details.

Hi, Vale mining is working in the dam, but it is a very delicate situation, because the dam can break up anytime. Thousand of tons of rocks are been moved by train and trucks to protect the towns nearby. At the same time, a big concrete wall with 35 meters high is under construction to hold the old dam wall.

Thank you. I hope Vale is successful in preventing another catastrophe.
