Great machines in a dead line (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, this week I received a sab news: maybe a group of old diesel locomotives separated for preservation since a long time will be scrapped soon. The reason is that they were moved from an old railroad shop area in 2016 that was chosen to receive a new olimpic stadium for the Olimpic games in Rio de Janeiro at that time. They were sent to a closed central station near downtown Rio, and now the area was chose to receive a new building for the Justice. So, those great machines can meet the torch if the preservation group can not find a new place to them. It is really sad. In the group we have the last units of famous locomotive types, such as the FA1 and AS616. What a sad world we live where people do not care for history anymore!

What a shame. The crane is great! If I could get it to CA, I would. Isn't there any rail group that would take some of it?

Yes, we have a group but they do not have money to move all the stuff to another location. They are trying to convince the governmet to help them, but at this time of a big economic crisis it is almost impossible.
