Hi all,

Back again and this time with some images from around Cairns in Queensland after we did a family holiday up there.

1. The second Cairns to Kuranda Scenic Railway service for the day, 3K32 waits to depart Cairns station with 1774 and 1744 on 5/29/19. The two Queensland Rail 1720 class locomotives with built by Clyde Engineering-EMD and are a model GL18C. They are powered by a 8-645E.

2. Our train rounding a horseshoe curve near Redlynch. We were in the last car of the 14 car train.

3. The first return service from Kuranda, 3C61 sits in the platform at Kuranda with 1771 and 1734 on 5/29/19.

Next lot.

1. Kuranda Scenic Railway service, 3K32 with 1774 and 1744 has not long departed Freshwater station as it passes over the 2ft gauge sugar cane railway at Redlynch on 6/2/19. I missed out by a couple of weeks of seeing the cane trains running.

2. Back in South Australia, Aurizon's Loram built rail grinder, MMY034 grinds the ARTC main line at Yantaringa as it heads away from the camera towards Ambleside on 6/17/19.

3. MMY034 passes through Balhannah station.

Last lot.

1. Pacific National grain train, 3AK6 from Bowmans in SA to Bogan Gate in NSW waits to depart Bowmans with BL31, G539 and 8165 on 7/2/19. These locomotives are all Clyde-EMD JT26C-2SS locomotives but built for three different companies - BL31 Australian National, G539 V/Line and 8165 State Rail Authority of NSW.

2. Pacific National connector service, 3AX5 from Adelaide to Pt. Augusta with NR35 races past 3AK6 at Bowmans, 7/2/19.

3. Another PN service, 2MP5 with NR112 and NR2 also passes 3AK6 at Bowmans on 7/2/19.

That's all from me.

Justin

Nice shots!  'Wish I could take a trip there, but I don't fly.  Do you what the fare is for the transcon passenger train with a sleeper?

Yes, it's an air-conditioner. They started receiving from around 1991.

Those AC boxes give those locomotives a special touch of ugly!

Fun photos. Is it a busy line? Surprised to see the rail grinder.

The line on which the rail grinder was operating is part of ARTC's (track owner) interstate rail network. It is the main line from Adelaide, South Australia to Melbourne, Victoria and will see up to about 50 trains each week.

Cheers,
Justin
