1. GWA empty grain train, 4AK1 travels along between Mt. Barker Jct and Nairne on a wet and overcast day with EMD's CLF6, CLP17 and ALF21 providing the power on 7/24/19. The train was tavelling from Dry Creek to Tailem Bend where is would load most of the train before heading to Keith to load the rest. It was then heading to Gellong, Victoria to unload. 2 & 3. Under a clear winter night with the moon yet to rise, 3DA2 waits on the crossing loop at Burando in the South Australian outback about 215km north west of Port Augusta and about 40km west of Woomera on the edge of Lake Hart. EMD's GWA002 and CLF6 provide the power on this train, 7/31/19. Cheers, Justin Date: 08/03/19 06:57 Re: Some South Australian Pics from July Author: CM80-46 Super great shots! Looks like 68 was the original build, and MK did a rebuild in 92 it would seem.I dont see em in my neck of the woods, usually just the NR class. Love those night shots. Regards,DK Edited 1 time(s). Thank you for sharing !!! :):):) Date: 08/20/19 18:17 Re: Some South Australian Pics from July Author: wabash2800 I would say with the length and number of axles, they would be more like an E unit that pulls freight than an F unit. I'm sure glad that EMD didn't built Fs and Es with that kiind of carbody in the U.S. That angled roofline kills the asthetics of the streamlined nose, IMHO.

Date: 08/25/19 05:29 Re: Some South Australian Pics from July Author: AussieGWAdriver Thanks again everyone and a few answers to the questions.
The converted passenger carriage behind the locomotives is a crew car for relay working in remote areas. CLF6 was built back in 1970 as CL6 and was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen as CLF6 in 1993. It was the only member of the CL class to retain its original number during rebuild. Australia has a whole range of numbering systems with all the different operators. A CLF is 20.6 metres long (67'6ft) long and weight 128 metric tonnes. They were built as an SD40 internally and were upgraded to dash two specs by MK.
