A Cab Ride on the Deccan Queen (India), Feb. 1982
Author: MartyBernard

While in India in Feb. 1982 I had a cab ride on the Deccan Queen, a morning passenger express into Bombay. I rode a big electric locomotive pulling maybe 15 cars. Big time railroading. The photos I took are in a two-part blog at:

Very interesting. India's railroads seem to burst with life. Raymond Loewy should have been hired as consultant on the feature locomotive, however! Thanks for sharing.

India's railways are an interesting lot. Designed and built by the British but the Indians have put their rather unique mark on them.

Wow very cool series.  I rode from Mumbai to Pune and back in 2013 when my daughter was living in Pune and that is quite a ride!  The ascent of the Ghats is one of the more imprerssive mountain railroads anywhere.
