Wonderfully lacking in details.

If I am not mistaken, Caterpillar, parent of Progress Rail, has considerable operations in Egypt already (but I could be wrong).
In reading that brief item, it would appear much of the work will be done in Egypt.

So the 41 to be overhauled will be the JT42CWRM
The 50 to be modernised possibly a mixture of G22/G22C?
 

The JT42's aren't being manufactured anymore iirc. These will be either single or double ended GT42AC's, potentially GT46AC's. There is a design floating around PR/EMD for a GT42AC with dual cabs that is on a GT46AC frame.

That said, Egypt may simply say "Make us more of the same" so all bets are off. PR needs the money and orders.

3211 anf 3212 sighted in Antofagasta last week, so at least 12 of the 14 FCAB GT42AC on order have now been delivered.

Bangladesh ordered 40 broad gauge GT42ACL in February.

Would the "L" indicate light weight?

Bangladesh also have 100 metre gauge license built units on order from Hyundai Rotem, apparently GT38LC-3. Delivery in 2021

The Egyptians also have a deal with Talgo for several new train sets, mentioned last June.

Great to see EMD still being a force in the export markets. Rugged and durable locomotives.

Thanks for posting that. Very different design than previous versions, not using any of the same components outside of the trucks, but does look somewhat similar to the PR22L units for TasRail which are powered by CAT engines. That doesn't make much sense though as they're too low powered.

Frankly I've no idea what they're building in this case if the rendering is correct.
