My friend Rony who lives in Goiania, GO took these pics of train V043 distributing new cross ties in a section of tracks abandoned since 2018. The location is between Senador Canedo (ECD) and Bonfinopolis (EBF), both in Goias (GO) state. These tracks were abandoned after VLI ends with fuel trains contracts with Petrobras (petroleum Co.) to serve Goiania with fuel. Now they did a new contract and the D trains (petroleum derivates) will start again in those tracks.

1 - 3) The U20C leading the consist run backwards at 10 km per hour in the old tracks.

Hard to find the track in some of the photos.  I bet the engines slipped a lot on the weed covered track. And, replacing ties in all that grass would not be fun either.  Still amazed that the railroads in Brazil don't control the  weeds.

A weedburner would do the trick -- and probably take care of the ties also!

 They use chemical to control the weed, but they are prohibited in some locations, specially near rivers. Another point is that in tropical lands like here the rains are more effective to the growth of the  weeds than the poisons to kill them.

Well, it didn't seem to bother those weeds.
