The track signal in your video has me confused.  It is green even though a train is coming.  Then about the time the trains hits the switch points the signal drops to red and when the train is past it is green.    I under stand it being green after the train has passed.  But I would like to know about the other situations I mentioned.

To Me the signal should have been red with the train coming and stay red until the train has passed it , then it should turn green.  Otherwise what in the world good was it they way it was working??

That is a signal to indicates the spring switching is aligned to the siding, because all trains in that direction must use the siding. If a train needs to use mainline to enter the yard ahead, it must turn the switching machine by hand and the next train will find it red and need to change it by hand again. In the CCO we will see a pink dash indicating the switch was changed normal position and the next train need to stop and check it.

5) In this print of CCO we see the train L510 leaving a siding where the spring switch was changed manually. ESL is a yard with other tracks, but two lines are controled by CCO. This is the siding to access EMD plant. L510 is a train of empty locomotives leaving the plant.

6) In this other print we see the same action happening in many locations.

OK that makes sense.  Are there any mainline signals away from yards and spring switches.? 

No, VLI do not use signals along the tracks. Only computers in the locomotives guide the trains.
