International Railroad Discussion > Moving some BB36-7's to the limestone route (Brazil)

Hi, VLI moved some BB36-7's to increase the number of them in the limestone route from Arcos, MG to Barra Mansa, RJ. The units were moved from Divinópolis shops following a route without much traffic in the last ten years. The limestone  route has great sceneries in the mountains and is a challenge to operate any kind of trains, specially with big units like these.
VLI is planning to send a BB40-2 to test there also, but most people say it won't be a good idea since they are much bigger and heavy than the BB36's.

Another amazing series of photos. These locomotives certainly are weed-wackers. I'm also fascinated by the horn placement on the BB36-7 - must be incredibly loud in the cab.

We can easily perceive these were ex Conrail units. The blue painting is coming back under Vale and FCA livery.

It seems that where you live the floods are really
bad also.

Hi, yes we had the worse floods of all times near here, in BH city and other 100 locations in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo states. The tracks were closed in many locations, but not seriously damaged.
