Tom,looks like since about Nov 97.They brought into South Australia rail infrastructure,and then expanded from there. My point is it seems they didn't stay very long in Australia .

G&W had no option, Brookfield already had other rail assets in Australia that would likely lead to objections from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, G&W's 51% shareholding in Genesee & Wyoming Australia was sold separately. Without this move the global sale would have stalled. Like G&W's exit from Bolivia in 2014. They sold out to local interests in the face of threatened nationalisation by a Socialist/Indigenous government. |
