Author: pedrop

Hi, Vale mining ordered more 15 ES58ACi to Wabtech of Brazil to its broad gauge railroad EFC inbthe North. Three units are on the road at this moment and other four are programed to leave the plant this week. The units are doing a journey of 2650 km on the road.

Pedro, it seems like hardly a month goes by that we see a locomotive being trucked on the highway.  That probably keeps some truck companies busy as well as getting a lot of money for their service.  All the different gauges contribute to all that trucking.

I feel like hope is lost for more SD80s to Vale EFC.

Hi, Rumo is testing SD80 right now and we can imagine a big order to EMD soon. Two SD70 and one SD80 performed better than four AC44 in the grain train consists with no need of tail helpers in some locations with big grades. We also imagine that Rumo and MRS will test ES58 as they are dealing to rent a couple with Vale.

Yes sir, but soon Vale north system will be connect to south with Rumo and VLI North & South rwy (FNS). Rumo intends to connect the tracks by the end of this year. With more than 4100 km long, FNS is the biggest railroad under construction in the country now and is serving a huge area needy of all kind of transportation. VLI have the rights of 720 km and the remaining belongs to Rumo.
